The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in acting is a three-year graduate program designed to train students at an advanced level in performance technique and prepare them for entry into professional theatre. Also, consider this about Rutgers: they are very helpful with getting you lower tuition. The Theater Department will not accept new applicants for the MFA in Design, Acting, or Stage Management at this time. A student brings in audition material to perform and the other classmates critique it. Most of these classmates have no professional acting or audition experience.

The curriculum focuses on vital fundamentals including: mastering verse, rhyme and prose, comprehending and appreciating the form of the text, contextualizing the written word, and owning Shakespeare's language.
