Get the shoulders, chest, arm holes, sleeve diameter, and length to fit. so can button placement, length, lapel size, color size, notch gap size, material, cut, and any additional stylizations.

The one I'm wearing in the pictures is a 40L. Schott 740C with Leather Trim. It's shorter than an overcoat, and generally worn more casually -- generally not with a suit. I really like the color, and the buttons. Album.
The peacoat should hit the buttocks, no higher than that. It's a Sterlingwear (Classic I think) that I picked up at a military surplus store. How does it fit, and can it be tailored or should I return in for a different size or a different coat entirely? Rooted in naval heritage, pea coats often come with anchor engravings on the buttons and other details that echo the navy. I'm loving the overall design, but am not sure if the fit is correct for me.

While the sleeves are of the right length, the coat is quite tight around the shoulders (i cant bend over all the way with it on). I have been trying to find a peacoat that fits me well but they all seem to either be too tight on my shoulders and upper arms or really baggy over the stomach. it is like $30-$45. It's starting to get chilly in the Windy City and with that, I've started looking around for different peacoats to keep me warm this winter. Thus, this peacoat inspiration album was born. I'm not too tall at 5' 9", but my shoulders are wide and my arms are long. I just bought my first peacoat after doing a lot of research on here and was looking for some opinions on the fit and possible alterations to get made (or swaps to be made).
shoulder seam is most important, and you should determine for yourself if you're going to be wearing sweaters underneath it, but if you're preparing for a Northeastern-type winter, you should count for it. It's gonna be hard to find something else to fit the bill. It's something you're going to be wearing every single day during the winter.
