Availability Issues with Pterophyllum altum I should point out that P. altum is rarely bred in captivity. However, they are still available from some of the better tropical fish suppliers.. Altum angelfish are about the same size as discus fish, who need similar care. These are not regular angelfish, they are wild Peruvian angels called false Altums, because they are so similar looking, but they are different.
The pair was a very typical looking albino (though Dantum albinos have a slightly different look to them from the regular albinos in the hobby). Medium/large in these have around a 1.5-2 inch body without the fins. This is a very similar situation to the beautiful red spotting found on Peruvian green discus fish.
